a hybrid-jazz psychedelic act

Two Thou's hybrid jazz experiment, Oraculu, a psychedelic journey where machines, drums, voice, and horns converge in a soul-sparking performance. Expect to oscillate.

Oraculu formation is currently made of: Two Thou (keys & electronics), Monica Mussungo (voice), Daniel El Congo Allen (trumpet), Dylan Chee Greene (drums & percussion). Available as trio or quartet.

The Live Act

Oraculu is a function that starts slow and spiritual, and ends in movement and catharsis. It's a ritual performance, rooted in improvisation and jazz but unbound by it. Fuelled by invention, soul, and dance-floor instincts.

The band can play a very mellow, soft, hypnotizing, and mantric sound, almost reaching a meditative state. From here, the sound spins into wider and wider circles, filling the space with energy and touching danceable moments.

The contrast between electronic and acoustic elements is central, with Monica's voice, the horn, and the synths weaving together endlessly, while deep spiritual beats and bass keep the frame firm.

Although stable in sound, this is a highly mutable act that shifts with the energy of the room. This is music from the heart. Focused, grounding, and leaving people full.

Two Thou’s hybrid jazz act Oraculu debuts with a 12” in the realm of spiritual electronics, carrying the music touch of Berlin’s hottest jazz cats such as Monica Mussungo, Taymour Khajah, Ziggy Zeitgeist, El Congo Allen and Dylan Greene, plus a remix by Toribio, and a spoken blessing by Sonny Daze. Expect to oscillate.

“This music was born in Berlin, matured with me through a winter in the rural Sardinia, and ended up on wax through Chicago and New York. With this record, that to me sounds in-between worlds, I want to recall that jazz and electronic music both emerged as inventions, and it seems to me they’re both suggesting us to keep inventing. (Two Thou)

The musicians

Monica Mussungo is a force of nature and her deep, powerful voice moves from soothing to explosive. A soprano with A Song For You, she’s lit up XJAZZ and Cassette Head, with roots in Lisbon, time in Barcelona, and a base in Berlin. Her sound, rooted in the experimental, now shifts toward psychedelic exploration with Oraculu.

Taymour Khajah is a very talented saxophonist, also skilled on guitar and bass guitar. He toured the UK with Geordie Greep - Black Midi’s frontman - on his solo project. Taymour released the free-jazz single “Freecutter” and appears on the first Oraculu release, showcasing his boundary-pushing sound.

Daniel “El Congo” Allen is a Cuban trumpeter, producer, and performer whose sound began in deep Afro-Cuban and reggae roots and now moves boldly into futuristic sonic experiments with Oraculu. Formerly active with Tony Allen, Jimi Tenor, Aloe Blacc & Machete Horns, Samy Deluxe and Patrice & the Shashamani Band, he is currently part of the genre-defying collective Sonic Interventions.

Dylan Chee Greene is an international local hero and New York–schooled, Berlin–transplanted, and an extraordinarily resourceful drummer, percussionist, and producer. He’s helped half the city and is working on the other half, all while producing Sonic Interventions and Sera Kalo’s exII. Now, he’s stepping into Oraculu with space drums and space percussion.

Two Thou is the mind behind Oraculu and an audio-visual polymath blending textured soundscapes with raw emotion. Rooted in improvisation and genre-defying exploration, Two Thou spent more than a decade in dance music and club music as a producer and dj, walking a parallel path on improvisation and experiments that is now giving birth to Oraculu.
